Prof. Mikhail B. Piotrovsky, Director of the State Hermitage Museum, had a meeting with the Chairman of the Board of the National Library of Israel, Mr. David Blumberg and the Director of the National Library of Israel, Mr. Oren Weinberg, discussing the upcoming exhibition of manuscript, which will be drawn from the National Library of Israel, and be shown at the State Hermitage Museum in September 2019. After the successful meeting Prof Piotrovsky lectured at the library’s auditorium which was fully booked well ahead, following Hermitage Museum Foundation Israel’s publication of the event.

CELEBRATING ISRAEL’S 70TH ANNIVERSARY

Hosted by Prof. Mikhail B. Piotrovsky, Director of the State Hermitage Museum and Mr. Amir Gross Kabiri, President of the Hermitage Museum Foundation Israel, 150 of Hermitage Museum Foundation Israel’s closest friends and supporters were welcomed on November 29th 2018, to celebrate this significant milestone in old Jaffa. During the event, Prof. Piotrovsky was presented by Mr. Kabiri with a unique gift; an original copy of “The Palestine Post” front page, reporting the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. The Gala’s Guest of Honor was His Excellency, Russian Federation Ambassador to the State of Israel, Mr. Anatoly Viktorov.

Prof. Mikhail B. Piotrovsky, General Director of the State Hermitage Museum, Mr. Amir Gross Kabiri, President of the Hermitage Museum Foundation Israel and Mr. Nicolas Iljine, Advisor to the General Director of the State Hermitage Museum, met with Mr. Israel Hasson, Director of the Israel Antiquity Authority, to discuss the Dead Sea Scroll Exhibition at the State Hermitage Museum, and the next steps to be taken for the realization of this ambitious and historic exhibition. The Foundation’s fundraising during 2018-2019 is designated for the realization of two historic and unique exhibitions, both celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the State of Israel.
